My Reading Week - 26/08/19

Welcome back to my reading week. In these posts I will be sharing with you all of the bookish things that happen to me over the week. What I've been reading, my thoughts and any book post I receive.

This week is the last week of my school holiday meaning I will be back to work next week. I plan to finish off my current reads this week ready to start September with a new TBR.

I really enjoyed this one. I've not read the Lady Trent series that's a prerequisite of this book but now I really want to. I really enjoyed the writing style and the way the story was structured in letters and diary entries. I think people who have read the previous series will be at a bit of an advantage as they will have a more solid understanding of the world and the cultures but that didn't hinder my enjoyment.

This started off really promising, I really enjoyed most of the stories in the first half. However, there were a few in the second half that I didn't really gel with which was a shame. If your an Alice in Wonderland fan though I would recommend this one as there are some really interesting takes on the tale.

Not much to say on this one at the moment as I'm not very far in but I already know I'm probably going to love and hate this book all at the same time!

My Reading Week 19/08/19

Welcome back to my reading week. In these posts I will be sharing with you all of the bookish things that happen to me over the week. What I've been reading, my thoughts and any book post I receive.

Books Read

The Edge (Relics, #3)

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this one as much as I had hoped. The story felt a bit disjointed, we had the introduction of some new characters and a new subplot and I don't think these really added much to the overall story. I just wanted some more action overall.

Another one that didn't quite live up to the hype unfortunately. I thought the plot was interesting and I really enjoyed the characters however the story was quite predictable in places and there were a lot of conveniences. I also felt the ending was very rushed and that resulted in it being a little lacklustre for me.

I'm really enjoying this one so far. I love the writing style and the way the story is structured using diary entries and letters. I also love Audrey as a character, she is really voracious and passionate, albeit a little reckless.

My Reading Week 12/08/19

Welcome to my reading week. In these posts I will be sharing with you all of the bookish things that happen to me over the week. What I've been reading, my thoughts and any book post I receive.

Unfortunately The Sacrifice Box was quite disappointing. What I wanted, and what the premise of this sounded like, was an atmospheric creepy thriller but this turned into a crazy 80s horror story.

I didn't realise this was a middle grade story before I went into it and I think this really aided my enjoyment. This one was quite a macabre story but still very magical, one that would appeal to both adults and children. It also had some lovely themes of friendship throughout.

Finally a graphic novel I enjoyed! I liked how this one was more focused on telling a story (or several) rather than very dialogue and action heavy. This book is also heavily influences by the myths and stories from religion and I liked the twist it put on these.

Another graphic novel that I thought was good. This was a great moody read with a sombre and monochromatic colour palette to match. I enjoyed the simplicity of the story and the art style and I liked the themes of accepting who you are.

I'm still slowly working my way through the stories in this one and I'm still very much enjoying them. So far I haven't found a story I didn't like.

This is the final book in The Relics trilogy and I'm enjoying it so far. It was a little bit slow in the beginning and the plot was a bit lacklustre but it's picked up now and the action is beginning to happen.

My Reading Week 05/08/19

One of the things I enjoy in this community is hearing about what people are reading and their in the moment thoughts. My favourite things to watch on Booktube are reading vlogs because of this so, I thought I would do my own version on my blog.

Welcome to my reading week. In these posts I will be sharing with you all of the bookish things that happen to me over the week. What I've been reading, my thoughts and any book post I receive.

I enjoyed this one a bit more than the first, it definitely wasn't so graphic but it was still a bit gory in places. I still wish we knew more about The Kin but there were some plot twists that surprised me.

I'm enjoying Wonderland. All of the stories I've read so far are very different which I like. My favourite so far is Dream Alice, I liked the sci-fi elements in this one.
The Sacrifice Box is very strange, the build up was quite slow but a whole lot of crazy happens all at once. It's not quite what I was expecting at the moment.
