Mailbox Monday - Weekly Book Post

Mailbox Monday is a weekly meme that was started by Marcia of To Be Continued. The aim is simple, for people to share what books they received in their mailbox that week. To check out everyone else's posts head over to the Mailbox Monday blog.

This week I received lots of book trades...

Friday Black by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah

This is a collection of short stories about race and cultural diversity. They tackle some of the difficulties surrounding these topics. I think there might be a slight magical realism aspect to some of these stories too. I enjoy short stories every now and again so I'm looking forward to giving this one a go.

Daughter of the Siren Queen by Trisha Levenseller

This is the 2nd book in a duology, the first one being Daughter of the Pirate King. I haven't read the first one yet but I'm excited to dive in now I've got the 2nd one too.

Turtles All the Way Down by John Green

I've never read a John Green book nor have I really been interested in reading one as I'm not the biggest contemporary romance fan however, the mystery element of this one intrigues me.

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

I have heard nothing but great things about this one however it is massive! I'm planning on getting to it very soon otherwise I'll keep putting it off because of the size.

Have you read any of these? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Lord of Secrets by Breanna Teintze

I was lucky enough to be gifted this ARC from the publisher. It sounds like a super interesting fantasy book and I can't wait to get to it.

This week I received...

The Dark Vault by V. E. Schwab

I received this one in a book trade on Facebook. I now own 4 books by this author so it's about time I get to at least one of them.

Unhinged and Ensnared by A.G. Howard

Another couple I received in a Facebook book trade. I now own this whole trilogy so I'm looking forward to starting it.

The Tethered Mage by Melissa Caruso, The Ninth Rain by Jen Williams and Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho

My last book trade of the month. Since reading The Ruin of Kings I've really wanted to get more into adult fantasy so hopefully these will help me achieve that.

Soundless by Richelle Mead

Finally I picked up this one from a charity shop. I've been intrigued my the synopsis for a while but the reviews aren't the best so I'm glad I only paid 50p for this one.

That's everything I received this month. I've had a bit of an unhaul which is why I have mostly books from trades this week.

Have you read any of these? What did you think? What books did you receive this week?

All the Lonely People by David Owen

I was lucky enough to win a couple of giveaways on Twitter this week. This was the first one from a lovely fellow bookworm.

The Queens of Innis Lear by Tessa Gratton

This was the other giveaway I won and this one was from the publisher.

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan

I received this one in a books for trade. I've had my eye on it since it came out so I'm excited to get to it soon.

Iremonger: Heap House by Edward Carey and Tribute by Ellen Renner

A lovely book lover was giving away some ARCs on Twitter and I picked these two because they've been on my radar for a while so I thought I would give them a try.

That's all of the book post I received this week. I was really lucky this week as I haven't actually paid for any of these other than postage for the trades.

This week I received some really exciting books in the post. I was sent...

The Ruin of Kings by Jenn Lyons

I had an eARC of this one from NetGalley but the formatting wasn't great so I was lucky enough to be gifted a physical proof of this one from the publisher. Which was a good job too because I was really enjoying the eARC.

The Glovemaker by Ann Weisgarber

I was gifted this one by the publisher ready for the blog tour I'm taking part in towards the end of this month. It sounds quite different to what I've been reading at the moment but I'm looking forward to it.

Once and Future by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy

Another one I was lucky to be gifted by the publisher. A King Arthur retelling in space, Yes please!

King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo

This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year so I just had to pick it up as soon as it came out.

So like I said, I managed to acquire some really great sounding books this week. Are there any here that you're looking forward to reading?

I know what your thinking, I'm sure we saw this one in a library book haul a couple weeks ago. Yes you did but I was offered my own copy as part of a trade so I grabbed it as I think I'm going to like this one.

That's all for this week. I am waiting on a couple of parcels but I think the snow has held them up so you'll see them soon.
