My Thoughts

If I had to describe this book in three words I would do so as a 'romp through history' as to me that's what it really feels like. As the title suggests this is the 'not so true' story of Lady Jane Grey who, in English history, was queen for only 9 days. In truth she was queen at a time when the dislike between Catholics and Protestants was rife and this story put a really fun twist on that idea.

I really enjoyed Jane as a character I found her strong willed and feisty which was a breath of fresh air for a book based in this era when females are usually so much more subdued and often dominated by males and her love of books helped :). I also enjoyed G and Edward, their personalities shone through and they were defiantly strong characters in their own rights. I felt that the relationships were done really well. I loved the strong friendship between Jane and Edward and I liked the way the love between G and Jane grew as the story progressed. No instalove in sight!

Overall I found this story to be really fun. It made me laugh out loud in places and kept me engaged with several witty comments from the authors throughout. I would definitely recommend this book especially to those looking for an alternative take on history.
